Yesterday, the Department of Energy announced a $25 million commitment to the U.S.-India Joint Clean Energy Research and Development Center. This money will fund teams of scientists as they research three primary areas - building energy efficiency, second-generation biofuels, and solar energy. An extension of our work with the Make It Right Project in the Lower Ninth Ward, we were happy to be involved with this effort to bring clean, renewable energy to low-income Center City residents. The current solar tax credits allowed these systems to be installed at a fraction of their normal cost, and will provide drastic reductions in these homeowners’ energy bills.
